Aligning With M$

I can see both sides to this, but it all depends on what's best for our customers. I think if we had a pure [product] client base this would be OK, but if we have some die-hard Linux fans (including some (it appears) of our own people) it may turn into a Linux vs M$ slanging match which wouldn't be good for all concerned. OK, I'm looking at worst case scenario here, but it would only take one of the sandaled types to stroke their beards and kick off about IP (and we all thought it was a router friendly communication protocol) for it all to go horribly wrong.

However, I agree with [him] that we could propose this to M$.
Another alternative would be to invite M$ along as a spectator, not a presenter, but they might view it as a way to get their claws into our customers. Damn, talked myself out of it again......

At minimum we could go and see them even if we don't extend the invite. Pose it as a pure techie-to-techie relationship. Forging links between vendors to help our customers. Adding value and becoming aligned. Sold!
