Why Is An Orange Orange?
|
01 Jun 07 |
Anyone that knows, knows. Anyone that knows also knows there is no way I'm able to tell anyone, believe me there are reasons. However, which came first the fruit or the colour? Wikipedia tells us that before we had ever set eyes on fruit, the colour known as orange was called geoluhread which translated into yellow-red. It then answers our question by saying, 'The name of the color is derived from the fruit', this was back in the 16th century.
However, oranges are not the only fruit coloured orange, we also have:
Sharon Fruit
Pumpkins
Mangos
Physalis
Lychees (sometimes)
Is there any point to this, am I just listing things that you could easily browse for yourself and wouldn't want to becuase you're probably not really interested anyway? Should there always be a mystery to analyse?
