The Cinema Experience
|
20 Aug 07 |
We went to see Dead Head (Live Now, Die Hard Forever 4.026) the other day. We arrived promptly and found seats just as the lights were dimming. I like the cinema, it's something I really enjoy. OK, maybe not Dead 'ard, but I do love (and always have done) the experience, the thrill of being transported to another place, taken to another time or whisked away to another dimension. What I don't like is being subjected to 25 minutes worth of adverts before the actual picture starts. If I wanted to watch adverts, I'd buy myself a television to satisfy that need. I don't appreciate paying top whack so some advertiser can sell to me, it simply does nothing but lessen the whole joyful experience. By the time I reached the 25'th minute I was just about ready to leave, I can imagine these people conducting tests.
'So, how long do you think the average punter can put up with all this?'.
'What you mean before they completely, totally and utterly lose it?'.
'Well it's one of these supposed blockbusters, so we'll go for the full 25 minute treatment'.
'OK, good point, they'll all want to see Brucey in action, they'll put up with it'.
I'm afraid cinema chains are not making it easy for us film lovers. Not only that, but then we're shown information about how piracy is bad, and killing the poor film industry, I can't quite see Mr Willis flipping burgers. Hang on a minute buddy, we're the actual one's who are paying for this film and not at home downloading it, why preach to me about piracy? If you must preach, go preach to the pirates instead.
It's simple, I pay my money to watch a film, that's it, that's all. At least if you watch a pirated film it doesn't have 25 minutes of adverts, piracy info, adverts, please turn off your phone, trailers and adverts. Could be the better option, what d'ya think?
